China has built a supercomputer with a capacity of 1 teraflop

According to a recent report by the Chinese Information Resource Youth Daily, in the Celestial Empire created a general-purpose supercomputer, KD- 50 -I, capable of performing one trillion operations per second (one teraflop ). The supercomputer was built by the China Science and Technology University (China Science and Technology University) on the basis announced in the 2007 processor Godson- 2 F.

In contrast to all previously collected in the China of supercomputers that use processors from foreign companies such as IBM, Intel and AMD, this model applies only to parts of its own production, the report underlines.

KD- 50 -I is relatively little space - the space equivalent of the home refrigerator and carries a 300 processor Godson- 2 F, developing peak power of a teraflop. Cost supercomputer applies to the amount of energy consumed - only 6 kW, and the cost - about 110 thousand U.S. dollars.
